LNBP teams are on the hunt for players but where are they going to look?
Well, at least the Lechugueros are preparing for next LNBP season, which opens July 31st. Gustavo Saggiante, the team president, headed to the ´City of Angels´ this past week in search of some new re-inforcements for the upcoming season. Rumor has it that Saggiante was in talks with a Mexican American player who played for Fresno State last season. Team officials contend that three players will be named next week. We wonder, Sr. Gustavo, have you heard of the Eurobasket Summer Leagues?

The Pioneros of Cancun kick off the LCB final four tonight in Cancun. They rolled through group play without losing a game. They will play Guatamala, Honduras and Costa Rica in the LCB Final Four, which they should win easily.

Will he return to Cordoba next year? A one time member of Mexico's National Team, Karim Malpica was an integral part of the best home team in the league and an LNBP All Star this past season with the Algodoneros...

Will Santiago Aguirre make a major impact on Mexican basketball? photo: lnbp.com.mx

You may have thought the Mexican Pipeline was in Puerto Escondido, on Mexico's west coast, just south of Acapulco. Well, if you're a big wave surfer, technically it is but on the other side of the country, in the Yucatan peninsula, Cancun to be exact, there's another pipeline being built. It's too early to measure it's output but there is some construction.

Mexico is looking toward a future where qualifying for the Olympics or 'Worlds' in basketball will come to be expected and the arrival of Santiago Aguirre to the Pioneros of Cancun could open a new chapter in Mexican basketball. Weather that chapter will lead to a storybook ending is much too early to tell...
