Dan Tacheny Joins LNBP Coaching Ranks
Written by EFH
Sunday, 18 October 2009

Bienvenido a Mexico Dan Tacheny! The Potros ITSON made some changes last week after a slow 2-8 start removing head coach Larry Satchell and replacing him with Dan Tacheny. This is Tacheny's first head coaching job in Mexico and the LNBP. Tacheny joined the team last week admitting the move 'happened really fast' and he is still adjusting to his new surroundings in Ciudad Obregon.

Tacheny and the Potros have their work cut out for them which could be a good thing for the rookie coach. The silver lining is that he has no where to go but up. The Potros are 2-10 overall and need to boost offensive production to start making some moves up the LNBP ranks. The team averages about 77 points per game compared to the top teams in the league which put up 90 plus every night. Defensively they hold teams to about 85 points a game where as the top five teams in the league are holding opponents to under 80.

Last night Tacheny and the Potros fell to the Bucaneros of Campeche 84-70 after shooting 38% from the field, 22% from threelandia, and turned the ball over 20 times. Tacheny has made some personnel changes which have made some immediate impact. David Berghoefer collected 19 boards last night to help the Potros outrebound the Bucaneros 46-38. Keep reading for more background on Coach Dan Tacheny.
