About the LNBP:
The Liga Nacional Baloncesto Professional (or National League of
Professional Basketball in english) is the top pro league in Mexico.
The LNBP consists of 24 teams in 2 divisions (North and South) and is
in it's 10th season. The LNBP has had many former NBA players on it's
rosters and has had players that have signed NBA contracts after
playing first in the LNBP. The LNBP is also known to be a gateway for
other professional leagues in South America and in European countries
such as Spain and Portugal. Because of it's proximity to the United
States and the healthy playing contracts offered to it's better
players; it is the league of choice for many players that haven't
caught on with an NBA club and need to stay close to home for workouts
or other business with the league.
Teams for the EnFuegoHoops.com LNBP Showcase will carry the name of six (6) of the States in the league. They are as follows:
* Team Baja California
* Team Chihuahua

Ayon Eyeing Another Title in Venezuela
Written by Nitro

The 'Goose' is loose in Venezuela! photo: FIBAAmericas
Gustavo Ayon, billed as one of Mexico's best, if not the best Mexico has to offer, won an LNBP title this past season with the Halcones of Xalapa and he is on the brink of another championship in another league, in another country.
After the LNBP season ended this past spring the 'Gus' skipped the pond to test his mettle in Spain's ACB where he played for a minute. We didn't get the memo but I guess his services were needed back in this hemisphere because he's now battling for a title with the Marinos Anzoategui (just say 'Marinos,' that's easy enough) in Venezuela.
Ayon's arrival means a stronger defensive presence in the paint and an improved rebounding edge for the Marinos who are up 3-2 on the Crocodiles of Caracas. Gustavo is facing off against a familiar foe in the Cocodrilos big man Jack Michael Martinez who mixed it up for the Halcones Rojos last year in the LNBP. Tonight, the two teams face off in game 6 with Ayon licking his chops for another belt in only a few short months.
