
Danilo Gallinari suffered an ACL injury while playing for Italy in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
Boston Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced on Friday. The injury was originally believed to be an MCL tear, but further evaluation confirmed an ACL diagnosis.
Gallinari sustained the non-contact injury while playing for his home nation of Italy in a FIBA World Cup qualifier against Georgia on August 27. He scored 17 points before exiting the game.

The 13-year NBA veteran signed a two-year deal with Eastern Conference-champion Boston in July after being traded to and waived by the San Antonio Spurs earlier this offseason.
Last season, he averaged 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Hawks.
