Report: Nets, TJ Warren agree to deal

TJ Warren spent the past 3 seasons with the Indiana Pacers.

The Brooklyn Nets have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with swingman TJ Warren, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Warren has only played four games in past two years with consecutive stress fractures in his left foot, but he’s recovering can help Nets at both forward spots. Warren averaged nearly 20 points on 53% from the field in 2020. At 29, he’ll be a free agent again next year. https://t.co/PWUAOt65cr

Warren spent the past three seasons with the Indiana Pacers and has healed up from the left foot injuries that have troubled him since late 2020. However, Warren did not play in any of Indiana’s games in the 2021-22 season.

He appeared in four games during the 2020-21 season before having season-ending foot surgery after first being plagued by the injury on Dec. 31, 2020. Overall, he averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds with a .529 field goal percentage in 2020-21.

Speculations about when Warren could return continued until March 25 of last year. Then, it was officially announced that he would not appear in another Pacers game that season and he has not played in a game since December 2020.

The Nets have reportedly reached deals with Nic Claxton and Patty Mills to keep them in the fold. However, the Nets are still awaiting resolution on Kevin Durant’s recent reported trade request and must determine what the future holds for star guard Kyrie Irving — who opted into his deal for 2022-23 — as well.
