The two-time All-Star entered the offseason as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career. He remained open about the possibility of returning to the Bulls but wanted to be paid as one of the league’s best players.

“I think it’s important to me you get paid what you’re valued at,” he said prior to free agency. “I see myself as a top guy in this league. I think I’ve proven that over the last four years.”
