Stowe Shooting Sessions Tip Off

Monday night was day 1 of the En Fuego Hoops shooting sessions at Stowe Elementary School and there were basketballs shooting and dribbling at a rapid pace! The sessions are designed to introduce young players to the importance of committing to a shooting routine every time they step on the court to practice putting shots up.

Consistency in the correct shooting form is the foundation from which to build a practice routine and habits to make a player better. This routine can include any number of shot combinations with varying degrees of difficulty. Coaches reinforce that the routine is dependent upon the player’s skill level and shooting ability. We are emphasizing shot making and the tracking of those makes so a player learns to be aware of their pace and what their approximate shooting percentage is. Providing a shooting practice template for young players to follow and adapt to their needs is the overall objective of the clinic and day one was a great introduction!

‘Coach, these are shooting sessions, why are we dribbling?’ —> Adept ball handling is important to shooting off the dribble!
